Spirit Wilds
The Spirit Wilds are a collection of three areas that are currently over-run by hostile spirits. The Wilds are not a formal nation or government, with leadership being driven entirely by initiative rather than any coherent structure. One of these leaders is the spirit known as Kalina. The Spirit Valley Tribes were forced into exile by the emergence of the Wilds in the middle of their territory, but it is unclear what prompted the spirits' arrival. The motivation of the spirit attacks remains unclear.
History
The origin of the Spirit Wilds is unclear. The first sign of its existence was seen on 16 November 2021, when a Fire Nation soldier was killed while inadvertently trespassing on Othii territory. This was not the Othii's original territory, but that which they had recently migrated into. On 8 Febuary 2022, numerous spirit attacks were recorded simultaneously at the frontiers of the Air Nation, the Fire Nation, Cassland, and Even Newer Mexico.
Geography
The Spirit Wilds are divided into three territories: the Lowlands, the Highlands, and the Wilds.
The Spirit Lowlands are a flat and wooded terrain, with many agile grass spirits. Numerous rivers and lakes cross the region, making it also a home to water spirits. Spirits in this area are close to the territories of the Air Nation, the Free Territory, and the Galethii Free State.
The Spirit Highlands are a densely wooded and mountainous area, where spirits are the most entrenched. Spirits in this area are known to attack the border areas of nearby Cassland.
The Spirit Wilds are the most biologically diverse and spiritually infused area, with heavy rainforest, stark terrain, and many waterways. Spirits here are believed to be more powerful, as they reside in such a spiritually strong site. Spirits in this area are adjacent to the Fire Nation and Even Newer Mexico.
Government and politics
No known government, state, or non-state actor exists in the Spirit Wilds. Spirits appear to act entirely upon initiative, with a few taking a more active role in said initiative, but with no formal hierarchical structure of any kind. There are unfounded theories of "seraphs", larger spirits that compel leadership.
Economy
The spirits reject all form of technology and civilization, thus there is no economy of which to speak.
Demographics
While formerly populated by a diverse range of Spirit Valley Tribes, the area is now almost entirely depopulated. It is rumoured that some human settlements still hold out, but these reports are unconfirmed. Wild animals and plants of all varieties flourish in the wilds in the absence of humans.
Culture
The rejection of civilization by the spirits marks a radical and unprecedented shift in the interpretation of states. It is possible that non-spirits in other states may embrace the ideals of anarchy and nature that the Spirit Wilds presents.
