Khanate
The Khanate is a country on the Central Sea, with influence that extends to the far north and west. The territory is ruled by horse nomads, known as Khans, who are highly capable in chiblocking. The indisputable territory of the Khanate, or the Heartlands, is relatively small, but their area of influence, also known as the Grazing Lands, is far larger and contains 4 NPC villages.

Geography
The Khanate's territory is divided into two primary categories: the economically productive yet very small Heartlands, and the far larger and more populous Grazing Lands. The Heartlands represent the internationally recognised sovereign territory of the Khanate, while the Grazing Lands constitute a variety of NPC vassals, Khan colonies, and zones of Khan influence.
Heartlands
The Heartlands lie on the coast of the Central Sea, with the Earth Kingdom to its western border and Andorra to the east. It is primarily desert yet has ample supplies of seawater along its coastline. This has been used to establish irrigation networks that render the land productive, enabling the growth of plants such as trees, sugarcane, cacti, and crops. The capital is also on an island which can be forded, providing a uniquely strong defensive position against potential cavalry-based rebellions while not rendering it totally cut off.
Grazing Lands
Significantly larger and far more diverse, the Grazing Lands are the sum of the conquests and diplomatic actions of the Khans. Stretching from the Central Sea to the Northern Lake, it is bounded by the Northern Canal and Andorra to the East, the Earth Kingdom and river systems to the west and north. Most of this territory is sparsely populated, but there are settlements. The landscape is primarily desert, but also contains rivers, plains, and savannah.
Due to their sheer size, the Grazing Lands are not rigorously administrated. Instead, vassalage arrangements organise the territory, as settlements pay tribute to the Khans of the Heartland for their protection against foreign incursion. Due to the lack of a notion of firm territory or sovereignty to be defended, this means that foreign incursions are not an intolerable intrusion but rather to be debated case-by-case. For example, the Earth Kingdom Railway has been constructed in this territory with no incident.
