Kirov-class ship

Early ships on the server were relatively similar to each other and mostly had shallow hulls with an upper deck for piloting and some minimal storage space. While warships were developed, such as the Air Nation's Fianna, most ships were unarmed due to a lack of perceived need or interest.

This changed with the discovery of a shipwreck far to the south of Cassland identified by Cass. Partly flooded, the ship was repaired and sailed northwards to Polaris. This voyage was the longest ever undertaken by a ship at the time, and confirmed the size of the Southern Sea was far larger than initially thought, but also introduced a readily available design of ship that was easily armed and aesthetically pleasing. At Polaris, this ship was named Ridiculous, but would later be exchanged to the Free Territory. There, it was renamed FTS Kirov, thus naming the class.

Other salvageable shipwrecks were identified in other seas and claimed by other powers. In the Northern Sea, the Air Nation salvaged the HWS Elysium which was once involved in a raid on Mexican territory and is now stationed in Inkwood. The Fire Nation salvaged FLS Miracle, named for its lengthy voyage from the salvage site to a friendly port, the first warship of the Fire Nation armada.

Three Kirov-class ships have been recovered in the Western Sea: the WNS Polaris, the ENS Ba Sing Se, and the Special Case. The ENS Ba Sing Se was the first to be salvaged, but was unable to access Ba Sing Se due to the lack of a canal. Upon the opening of the Western Canal, the priorities of Earth Kingdom officials had shifted to favour new stoneclad designs. The ship was thus transferred to Andorran control to bolster their somewhat fragile fleet, and was renamed Andorra.

Special Case was recovered in the far north of the Western Sea and receives its name due to the fault in its generation, causing the ship to be lopsided. It too entered service in the Andorran Navy and is stationed at L'Alguer.

WNS Polaris was recovered in what is now the western fringe of the AAPC, then unclaimed land, and was set to be the flagship of the Water Tribe fleet. While the salvage was successful and the ship almost reached the western coast of the Water Tribe where it was to kickstart the town of Borealis, a lag spike caused the ship to tear in two while trying to turn, causing it to sink. The damage was irreparable and was the first time a vessel of any kind had been sunk on the server. This incident is also one of the only times this bug has appeared, although it has been seen again since.

As of the time of writing, the Kirov class is still a cutting edge ship design in many seas. In the Northern and Eastern seas, the only warships are Kirovs. In the Southern Sea, and the Western Sea by the opening of the Western Canal, they are now somewhat obsolete by the development of stoneclad ships and airskiff forces. The original FTS Kirov is still in the Free Territory Navy and is considered not only a warship but a historical landmark.
