The Burning of the First Temple was an event where Fire Nation soldiers destroyed the construction site of the first Air Temple under construction in what is now Air Temple Valley. The event would sting the settlers of the Valley into action, prompting a major build-up and the beginning of the Air Nation's ascendancy to great power status. It is also considered a foundational aspect of Empyrean thought, as the congregants of the Conclave of Inkwood would seek to make their own ecclesiastical structure as distinct from the Fire Nation's own Church of Fire as much as possible.
