The First Battle of Othii Pass was a battle that took place during the Spirit War. It was the first encounter that the Fire Nation military would have with the Spirit Wilds, although many in its ranks were from Spirit Valley Tribes and thus had some familiarity. It was a significant defeat for the Fire Nation forces, with two thirds of their army encountering significant disaster. Despite this significant tactical defeat, the Fire Nation was able to hold on to its positions and retain a strategic draw to bring additional forces to the Second Battle of Othii Pass.
