Waterbending is the use or control of water or substances containing water via bending by a player. Waterbenders carry a range of skills that let them push and pull water in a diverse way. They are extremely dangerous in open water due to this and have a well-balanced set of offensive and defensive abilities, but are generally poor without water sources or deep inland.

Waterbenders have a passive effect where if they hold crouch while in water on an empty slot or on the WaterSpout slot, they will swim incredibly fast wherever they point.

Origin

The first society to employ waterbending was the Water Tribe, centred around the city of Polaris. The mystical origins of waterbending are unknown, however it is known that waterbenders feel a great deal of new power at night and especially during full moons.

Fighting style

Waterbenders enjoy a great deal of dynamism compared to the other elements, being capable of successful defense, offense, mobility, and support roles. The trade-off, arguably, is that they lose mastery of any of these things. A waterbender cannot hope to beat a firebender's offense, nor an airbender's mobility, etc. Waterbenders are also highly vulnerable to losing a source of water compared to other elements. Plantbending helps to level this issue, although some waterbenders may prefer to embrace the enhanced power of Bloodbending or Icebending rather than leave those powers on the table in favour of using weaker powers in more places. Waterbenders can also carry water bottles to use their moves in many places, but this can leave them vulnerable if they are separated.

Abilities

WaterManipulation

This move is the basic offensive move for waterbenders. The user taps crouch at a water source to select it (it will smoke to show it has been selected) and then clicks to fire.

Torrent

This extremely powerful move has two forms. Both start the same way, where the user clicks a source of water and then holds crouch until a ring of water circles them at least once. This ring has a defensive function and can be held up by holding crouch. The user may also: a) Release crouch, which will unleash a large ring of water that deals immense knockback but no damage in every direction

b) Click and continue holding crouch, sending a stream of water following their cursor that will deal high damage to whichever player it hits. If the user clicks again before the stream reaches its target, it will freeze the target in ice. Blocks can count as a valid target, which means this move can be used to construct impromptu walls of ice.

Surge

This move has two functions:

a) The user taps crouch to select a source, and then clicks to fire, much like WaterManipulation. This will send a wave of water at an enemy, dealing high knockback. If the user taps crouch again while the wave is in motion before it reaches the target, they will be frozen in ice.

b) The user clicks to select a water source, and holds crouch while facing the sky. This will generate a hypermobile shield of water that will follow their cursor. If they click while holding this shield up, it will be able to turn into ice and back to water.

WaterBubble

This move enables the user to generate bubbles of air while in water, which can be extremely useful if surfacing for air is impossible or when working with non-waterbenders. It has two uses:

a) Hold crouch to generate a continuous bubble of air that follows the user

b) Click to briefly generate a smaller bubble of air. If the user clicks repeatedly, they should be able to run along seabeds.

The user must be careful to not use this move while near the surface of deep water, as they will "fall" through the water that is now air and possibly die of fall damage upon impact with the seabed.

WaterSpout

This move has two uses concerning mobility:

a) The user stands on water sources and clicks while facing the sky. A column of water will be generated underneath them, allowing them to move around in the air as if walking normally as well as control their altitude. This column will be broken by basic bending attacks or if the user is no longer directly above a water source.

b) The user clicks a source of water, and holds crouch. After water has surrounded them, they can release crouch and after a second or so of delay, they will surge forward as if on a jetpack. They will fly wherever they point for a short time.

WaterArms

This move is a MultiAbility, which means that activating will cause the user to gain a new temporary set of slots and remove the ability to do all other waterbending moves until WaterArms is done. WaterArms is activated by tapping crouch at a water source, and can be deactivated by holding crouch and clicking once. This will give the user two large arms made of water.

The new slots are as follows:

1) Pull. If the user clicks at a target, the arms will extend and pull any mobs/players towards them.

2) Punch. If the user clicks at a target, the arms will extend and deal some damage and knockback to any mobs/players it hits

3) Grapple. If the user clicks at a surface, the arms will extend and pull the user towards the surface.

4) Grab. If the user clicks a mob/player, they will be able to control and move the target however they wish. If they click again, the target will be thrown.

5) Freeze. If the user left clicks rapidly, multiple small ice blasts will be fired, dealing damage and applying a slowness debuff to any targets hit.

6) Spear. If the user left clicks, one of their arms will be turned to a spear of ice that can be thrown, losing the arm in the process meaning this move can only be done twice before it resets the WaterArms move. Anyone hit by this spear will take heavy damage and be frozen in ice.

OctopusForm

To use, the user must click a source of water and hold crouch. This will generate a ring of arms made of water around them, and will freeze any water underneath the ring.

This move is supposed to be capable of striking enemies at short range, catching arrows, or blocking defending attacks, but currently seems to be broken.

WakeFishing

Hold crouch at a single block of water without losing focus. Fish will begin to spawn at you.
