Southern Canal
The Southern Canal is a major international waterway connecting the Southern and Atlas seas together. It is jointly administered and governed by Atlas and Cassland, as each entrance to the canal proper is controlled by a different nation.
The canal is notable for being one of the longest-running construction projects in the server's history, having been begun at the founding of Atlas (30th June 2021) until 8th December due to difficulty in obtaining suitable labour. The first ship to pass through the canal was the Flying Dutchman, an Atlatian Kirov-class ship that had been excavated in the vicinity.
The canal is mostly unguarded, with large fortifications on the shoreline designed to deter attack rather than coastal batteries as in the Western Canal. Admission and passage is free to all.
