The Floating City is the capital city of the Northern Temple Jurisdiction in the Air Nation. Led by Templemaster Samigot, it is known for both its Empyreanism religious fundamentalism and for its awe-inspiring architecture of floating islands.
The city was founded shortly before the Mexican War, and much of its culture is drawn from the mingling of airbender refugees from Inkwood and Mexican refugees from Mexico City. Due to these two communities having both lost everything, they worked ferociously to build a new life for themselves.
The city also played host to the trial of radical eco-terrorist, Applebottom Jeans. Jeans was expelled to the End upon admitting his guilt for crimes against the city.
On February 3, 2022, Templemaster Samigot appointed Wren MacBride as Deputy Mayor of the Floating City, to govern in the Templemaster's stead as she administered the Northern Protectorate. Wren MacBride was able to use her position to increase her power and influence in the city and among La Nadans, leading to the Floating City Crisis. This effort ended with the death of MacBride, restoring the Templemaster's authority.
