The '''Battle of Besorrowed Gorge''' was a military engagement between the [[Earth Kingdom]] and the [[National Committee for the Liberation of Omashu]] (NCLO), a clandestine exile group of [[Kingdom of Omashu]] loyalists. The battle was precipited when Earth King [[Ainin]] and the crew of the royal yacht ENS ''Andorra'' were attacked and abducted by NCLO fighters while transiting the Cape of Omashu on the way from [[Fort Bosco]] to [[Ba Sing Se]]. The captives were imprisoned in a cave system beneath a gorge in the uncharted western continent of Tiansi, with the NCLO demanding that the Earth Kingdom withdraw from Omashu and restore the independent kingdom in return for their release.
